Hot weather continues… Temperature guage in the car shows 110F during the day. Even 10:00 o\’clock in the evening, temperature shows 95F. Air is not humid as much as the case of Korea, thus, people can survive in this hot desert. Springkler makes the city green during the hot drought summer.
I survive with cold green tea and ice coffee. At home, I normally drink cold green tea. When I go out for shopping or drive, I drink ice coffee bought at the Starbucks. Mostly double size. Ice coffee was not familiar to Americans. I remember that in the late 1980\’s, when I traveled to Japan, my American friends seemed to feel strange for Japanese to order mostly ice coffee at the airport lounge. Now, it is common even for Americans. I love hot cofee and ice coffee for joy. I drink green tea only when available.
I also like watermelon, which is very cool and sweet. Seedless purple watermelon is my favorite. I know that it is also very good for health. We learned that Mr. Woo, Jang Choon developed the seedless watermelon. Even though his works were done in Japan in the 1940\’s, I really proud of him. However, when I compare the quality of seedless watermelons, I feel that currently American products are sweeter and have less seeds than Korean products.
Yesterday, I by chance mixed ice coffee with pieces of watermelon, both of which are my favorites. But the taste was surprisingly strange. We can say that they are not well matched. In Korean term, 궁합이 않맞다. The term Goong-Hap sounds somewhat stange for us to use. But as we become older and experienced persons, we will more understand the status and/or application of the term in many matters.
