Good afternoon. It is time for us to begin our today\’s English Worship Service. I welcome all of you. I hope that all of us have good and meaningful time through the service.
It is cold in the morning and evening, but it is not that cold. Even though wind is strong, Pohang normally has milder whether than any other places in Korea. When I have job here in Pohang 10 years ago, my father visited me and said that this area looks like California. Mild weather, no snow, and naked mountains. Nowadays we seem to have more rainfalls including typoon and other heavy rainfalls, called guerilla downpour?
Mountains are naked with two reasons. One is the barren soil condition and the other is the mountain fire. I heard that there were big mountain fires ten some years ago in Pohang. Scientists normally said that 100 years are required for the habitats destroyed by the fire to be fully recovered. Anyway, I hope you do not caught cold and ready for the winter. Weather will be much colder and winter will come in full scale soon.
In this morning, at a movie channel OCN, I have a chance to watch a movie, Quobadis. You know the meaning of Quobadis Domine. The movie is very old one and I watched it 3-4 time in my life. The story is about love between young Roman general Makus and a beautiful slavery Christian Lidia. The stories I think all of you already know, but this time, I impressively watched the scene of Peter, a very old man. He preached in front of people. He said when he met Jesus, he was hungry and had pains, but after he watched Jesus and heard his voice, all of his hunger and pains disappeared. Whenever Jesus let the fishermen to cast the nets in the lake, the nets were full of fish. He told the fishermen Simon and Andrew, Come, follow me. I will make you fishers of men. Simon, later called Peter become a sincere follower of Jesus, we know.
We church members are also followers of Jesus Christ. We also want to be a fishers of men, right? As we know, in this town and in this world, there are so many people who do not know Jesus Christ. There are also so many people especially in Africa, Southeast Asia, and Middle East, who is in misery, who do not live humanistic lives with hunger, wars, and discrimination. We have to pray for them. We have to pray for peaceful lives of all the people. We have teach them the love of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Let\’s pray. Heavenly Father. We want to thank You that You provide us such a beautiful place to praise You and worship You together. Many of our members are from the U. S., Canada, Russia, South Africa, and other countries. Even though we are from various countries and various backgrounds, we all together praise you our Lord, Jesus Christ. Through the service, we want to open our hearts, confess our sins, and sincerely share your words together.
Father, we want to be fishers of men. We want not only pray for our selves, but also want pray for others. Near our church, in this town, there are obviously people who need help from us. They may be suffering from illness, economic hardships, loneliness, and family disputes and violences. We want pray for them and we want help them. We also want to pray for the foreigners, especially from the third world countries, who are mostly working in the factories of inadequate environments. We know their difficulties of their living in Korea because of low salary, poor working and living environments, and some kind of discriminations. We want to pray for them to maintain good health and maintain joyful and humanistic lives in Korea.
Father, now wars and killings are continuous in Iraq. In North Korea, so many people are suffering from hunger and oppression. Father, we really want this world and these cities become peaceful places without such killings and crimes. Father, listen to our prayers.
Father, we always want to make Your will our choice. Father, we want to serious understand that the only way to overcome all these falsehoods and evil ways that we face is just to focus on the Lord. Father, in this time, we want to have chance to re-understand and re-admit that we are sinners. We want to understand that our sins could be erased only through You, Jesus Christ, Your blood at the cross.
Thank you Father, you send us today\’s preacher Eric Enlaw. Through his preach, we want to learn Your teachings and receive plentiful benefits and graces. We prayed in the name of Jesus, A-men.
